'The line' is important to the one who draws, and for the painter it's all about 'Color' and 'Strokes'!
Colors & Strokes, brush and knife, together make a/this landscape to what it is.
So, so, so very often people comment 'about the strokes'. And I've said it again, explained in my book PleinAirMastery, it's so simple, the stroke is a direct effect of being there -outdoors- and painting. Yet, for so many it will never cross their mind. It won't be something they'll try.
Do try it in 2020! Throw away programs like 'Flash' or others that can create a photo into 'impressionistic areas & dots', to then after be 'painting by numbers'. It AINT the same. You can't fake 'flow' and you can't be consciously 'using a loose style', it doesn't work like that! It won't deliver the same results.
It only works when the subconscious 'owns' the style, like handwriting. And for this to 'become', you'll need to change How you paint. Outdoors! ----- It's so simple and so obtainable, yet most beginners think a style is like a coat to wear. You pick one and go with it. But no, a style is more like 'your skin'. You grow it. It becomes 'you'. Get my book! (below is a link.)
This painting was painted a year ago, and I forgot to blog about it, so here it is. It's strange and great to see how your style in painting differs from year to year.
The other day I looked at a 'very old' seascape, and searched for the note on the painting showing the year, seemed it was just 7 years ago. Tip: look back and see How Far You've Come! And in how little time.
We can do So Much in Such Little Time.
So many want to dedicate time to painting, and life gets in the way: Don't wait to START. Just START. Today, tomorrow. Not when you'll have more time. We'll never have more time. Time fills up. With a job, without a job, being young, being of middle age, being 'pensionado', ----better start NOW.
