Cows and Willows

Keeping Track...

Here it's mid Summer, almost end of Summer, the willows luscious, full, the sky vibrant blue, purplish, the energy can be felt in the painting.

The painting is painted too wild almost. But yes, we can't win them all.

It's these conclusions -which you can draw from your own efforts- that will help your future paintings.

That's how blogging will also help the painter himself/herself. Looking back upon what was created and drawing conclusions. Being able to scroll back in time and to see where your development is going. I often think we don't even have so much control over this 'development' as seen zoomed out.

It can be very helpful to keep track.

If you don't have a blog I recommend keeping a visual diary. Best is to print out the photos of results and cut and glue them in. Keeping 4000 pics in your phone doesn't do the same thing :)

Doing an inventory, separating the paintings into boxes, 'can exhibit' and 'can't exhibit' is also good. Making postcards from your best ones, making a book, calendar, it all helps to take a look backward, seeing where you are at today, and where you were. It will make you feel proud. There is ALWAYS an upwards development visible. Painting can't be unlearnt. The experiences are stored subconsciously.

Yes, we feel from time to time 'to have lost it', but these things aren't true. Often you just 'feel different', maybe stressed? Maybe not open to the experiment? Is it pressure? Going back to a simple 'state of seeing the beauty that's deserving to be painted' might be your best Mojo.🍀
