What to do with (too much) rain or thunder?

We entered the beach seeing this, dark clouds and the golden light still a bit in the bottom pinkish clouds. Yes! My favourite.

But we were late: after we had set-up the easels it started raining pretty heavily.

➜ Yes, we (me and my MasterClass students) had taped the umbrellas to our easels, but when it's perhaps too much, and you're getting wet (as you probably can only keep your canvas dry with 1 umbrella) and if you were 'underdressed', then you can run for shelter like we did. Just for a coffee break.

After the rain had passed we could finish. 

➜ A bit from memory, a bit from the remains still in the sky.
It's then crucial you were fast in the beginning: if you were: the finishing would be easier to do and you don't have to start from zero: missing out on that first wonderful first view...

Sun and rainclouds, the dark and the sunlight together, it's one of the best light effects there are! If time could stand still I could have spent hundreds of hours painting all different ideas from this view and this scene, but often you'll of course create (just) one impression.

And when I did finish, just a clear blue sky allover:
