Paintings in Oils by Roos Schuring.
Plein air painting, Images & Videos, Enjoy!
I often drive around to find a spot that fascinates. Sometimes it takes a long time searching. But after a long drive I found my cows, an idyllic scene, so Dutch! This painting took way too long, at the end the shadows had changed so much. But, it keeps to be great getting into the zone. Exercising the paint, exercising 'the seeing muscle'.
When it comes to cows: practice their shapes over and over again. Then it will become easier to quickly get something down that resonates as a cow. Because they do move.
I waited and waited for them to come nearer. And you'll see, the moment the painting is done they'll all be in their perfect spots. So if you see them the way you want to paint them: never wait! Even if your full canvas is still white: start with the cows IF they stand at a perfect spot, showing the shapes/light that you'd need. When it comes to painting cows: they set your timing. Not the other way around. So keep paying attention.
I have a vlog episode about painting cows here
