Patchwork of Colors

Painting the Early Morning Beach.

When I'm with my class on the beach I often recommend looking to our right in viewing the ocean and reflected parts of shallow water.

Looking north or south delivers different color spectrums at different times. The morning gives the warmest colors looking to our north.

Blues can seem purplish, there can be turquoises. Here the clouds create parts of this view in light and in shade, creating a patchwork of colors.

It's special how our eyes can see so much more nuances, in contrasts and in color, especially in high-light or high-shade areas. A photo quickly makes a sky too light and shadow areas too dark. Yes, what painters can view and capture! It's more than a camera can. Yay for painting! Agreed?
