Seascape Evening Sky

Viewing the Pier.

Some ask "How to decide what your painting will be about?"

I mostly paint something when it pulls me to want to paint it. For me that motivation is 'beauty', something in the scene fascinates me, this can be something minor or major, sometimes it will just be the beginning engine when the minor aspect has disappeared, sometimes you're able to convey this first idea or view or aspect.

Here it's about the time past sunset when all clouds slowly turn blackish purple-blue.

Every evening it's a different reason perhaps or different motivator as to what to paint, where and why. Maybe obvious to you, prolific outdoor painters reading this, but some beginner outdoor painters perhaps struggle with choosing a subject or view.

If you can get to a beach, there will be always something catching your eye, rain or shine!

This painting 'Evening Sky' could have been painted at so many places in the world.

I love this aspect. For me, it's always about an essence -of a moment of light, sun, water, color, and in this case, evening light.
