White Waves & Green Sea

Rain, rain, rain, and yet, such a beautiful painting!

It's a GIFT when there is NO BLUE SPOT visible (in the sky).
(Because the sea will then have a different color, as it reflects the sky...)
Overcast weather will color the sea brown, green, all greys.
The foam seems more warm white.

And you might also experience this standing in the shoreline, with your easel, and the foam from sea, the waves are the highest light in the view. It's great to paint in bad weather because of these changing contrasts, changed colors.

TIP: The umbrella only keeps the canvas dry(ish), the palette you'll have to shake every so many minutes to get the water off. But that's the benefit of oil painting, the rain is not able to ruin a painting like it would when you would use acrylics.
TIP: When it's a rainy day you are wisest to cover the whole painting in 1 oil color paint mix. So: the rain can't get there FIRST. Then you'll be able to paint in that, over that, and there won't be holes created by the water.
