We drove for so long, it almost cost half my gas tank to return again here, one of the views early in the drive.
Often I can see the painting vaguely in my mind before I start it. I knew focussing on the black and white ones far away only could result in problems.
After driving and driving in search for a good spot, entering this road again we saw a rainbow. Tiny, low. I then knew it could salvage the painting (that wasn’t created yet). So you see how much ‘thinking’ can go into it. Sure, it’s about ‘just set up the easel and go’, but it’s also about finding a spot that fascinates you Enough so you Can create something beautiful from the heart.
And with having seen that rainbow I knew this place could deliver. Including it in (from memory) made it balanced.
The beautiful grey overhanging clouds are a favourite subject too. I did film this session for a vlog. Will get it out soon!

A bright palette - and here cows so far away: you'll more easily 'render them' to just pieces of color, contrasting with their surroundings.
