Good Painting & Good People

Here an update about Painting in Florida last February in Florida!
F L O R I D A!

The painting ‘themes’ were as before, Beach-scapes in the morning, and late afternoon beach-views, Figures and that bright light on the ocean, Sunset, Palms, and morning-Street-view at twilight-sunrise-time. If you painted at all times, it did feel like ‘bootcamp’ in a good way. P R O D U C T I O N!!!

The artists, (Love to all of you!!) were happy they joined. I could convey a lot, aiming that they went home with paintings they love, and words that will repeat in their minds for when they paint at home again. Yes, we want Progress!
“You know you can paint!” “Have some fun!” “Experiment!” “Squint squint squint!”

Doris said something beautiful, so I'm sharing:“ It was a breakthrough class for me to relax in plein air and enjoy “think of painting an abstract painting inspired by the larger shapes and colors” of nature. I will keep that thought always..."

Yes, that's a big key! Changing how you look at things, and how you approach putting parts down, plus how you combat 'overwhelm' from looking at a 'living/changing complex scene...

I painted a lot in Florida. Here are some:

Mornings at the beach were nice and quiet. This time I wanted to portray the sand less ‘cool’, and this resulted in warmer overall results. The mornings were in the beginning ‘cold’, true! And after sunset I wore two body-warmers. (Remember, it was just a week after Pensacola had snow, ok, we were way down in Florida, (St. Pete) yet, the people told us it had just warmed up more, as this was mid. Feb.)

As the day started, I painted before sunrise, in the street, the palms, a morning warm highlighted sky, trees in silhouette, and also from in front of the dunes with the colors of sand almost like ‘snow in shade’. Yum!

The sunsets were difficult as they most often are. Painting it, and teaching it at the same time, not easy, but I think it was good we started for this later session at 3.30PM, so we could also paint figures, and the pure gold light on the ocean. For me it was also interesting to paint a few ‘see-throughs’ with palms in front, from the restaurant’s patio.

That awesome 'sickel moon'!

And there is more! You can find all 18 paintings in my shop here

M A G I C and happy times! It was worth the effort and travel/stress, we’re hoping for a repeat!

THANK YOU to all artists who joined!!! YOU made it such a beautiful experience. <3

😘
